To my Children

My children have such a wonderful father

But sometimes no father at all

He is brave

He is clever

But mostly a fool

He is good

He is gentle

He does what is right

He struggles to stay human with all of his might

My children love their father but have much to forgive

Which they do

Quite readily

They are loyal

And accepting

‘Hold me in regard

And they never complain that life is so hard

My children are talented and clever and bright

They are thoughtful and wise

With tremendous insight

They deserve so much more than they ever receive

And despite all my failings they love and believe

The future inherits the gifts of our children

To repair the mistakes of the past

They need us to love them and trust them

To give the world hope at last

This is a biographical exercise called Trudi Morello. It's a bit dark and a bit sad. To the best of my knowledge everything I've written is true but I can't prove it. There are a lot of gaps in this story. Click on the link to download it as a Word document that you can print and read.
