The Emotion of the Ocean.

To watch raw nature in the form of lightning, thunder

and incessant rain,

gives me calmness and serenity

whilst doing so from

the relative safety of

my post-box red Cavalier.

Parked on a cliff top, I enjoy watching the giant, roaring waves

crashing and thrashing onto the rocks

and cliff face which have stood up to

onslaught for thousands of years.

White lightning illuminates, momentarily,

the black sullen sky

giving the spectator a clearer picture

of the intense scene.

The windscreen wipers work furiously to keep the windscreen free

of the torrential downpour.

Thunder rumbles like a hungry lion.

How long will it last?

An hour? A week?

However long it does,

it will eventually become

calm and peaceful.

It’s as if the ocean has released

its pent up anger and frustration.

For all its ferocity and strength

little, if any, damage is caused

to the unyielding rocks and cliff face

The sea soothingly calm once again.

like a sheet of black ice,

lit up by a bright, lonely moon.
