Writers Resources

This area is a 'work- in- progress.' The original aim was to create a writers resource. Projects which are part complete or not yet developed include:-

A ‘Links’ page to writers resources and other sites of interest

A ‘Directory’ of journals, magazines and editors where new writers can submit their work

A ‘News and Events’ page to list competitions, events and news items of general interest to students at Newbattle

A 'Competitions' page for the 'Rainmaker' competiton for Newbattle Writers and other external competitions

A ‘Chatroom’ page which students can use to stay in touch with each other when they are away from college during breaks, while on holiday and when they have left at the end of the year

A ‘Bloggers’ page or weblog for Newbattle Writers to record their thoughts, ideas, feelings, inspirations, despairs and frustrations while they are working their way through college

A 'Writers Craft' page with hints and tips to help new writers get started and information dedicated to improving the writers craft.

The first four of these projects have already been begun and prototype pages are included on this site. The last three projects are currently under development. The last two of these will obviously need considerable careful thought to control the security aspects of running an amateur website. We would not want either our chatroom or our Blog page to be hijacked or attacked. Maybe we will restrict access to these features by creating a membership system protected by user names and passwords to ensure that unwanted or offensive intrusions can be prevented.
